Dear Mother,
We were very happy to get your letter
and learn that you are feeling well. It is certainly fine that your
health is better than it was last year or the year before. I know
you enjoy getting out so much I'm glad you can go to meetings, entertainments,
the temple, etc.
We should like to be with you on Father's
birthday, but will be thinking of you on that day. Thanksgiving
always reminds us of Father because it is so close to his birthday.
The other day Della said that a lot
of my actions and expressions were like Father's. I only hope I
can be like him in other ways as well. He truly lived a good and
honorable life. I'm deeply indebted to him and you as are all of
the other children. The other day I took out some new life insurance
and the examining doctor was deeply impressed with my family. He
said it was most remarkable (11 children and the Mother - all living
and the youngest 30 years old). He also said I was in very good
physical condition.
The commerce school faculty are having
Thanksgiving turkey together as we have done in the past two years.
There are five families including 9 children. Last evening one of
my students brought me some venison, a nice roast.
We had some of it today for dinner. It was delicious.
Della cut her hair this week. She has
had it long for so long it looks quite different now.
Bob tries to say everything and is getting
quiet fat. We try to watch ourselves and say "excuse me"
when we leave the dinner table. Bob never forgets to say it himself
and takes great delight in reminding us when we forget. He will
say "Ha! Ha! Daddy, Excuse" or "Joy Ha! Ha! Excuse"
etc. to whoever happens to forget.
There is a regular blizzard again today.
With much love,
Earl
