  2. Adoption of an outstanding honors program for superior students that is now recognized as one of the leading in the nation,
  3. Several new masters degree programs, including a Master of Business Administration, Master of Government Service, and Master of Library Science,
  4. The beginning of doctoral degree programs at B.Y.U., which presently have expanded to include 21 departments.
  5. Establishment of the two-year Associate Degree Program in areas such as nursing, industrial technology and general studies,

  6. The beginning of specialized professional accreditation at B.Y.U. in:
    • Teacher Training Education
    • Business Administration
    • Music
    • Engineering
    • Technical Institute

7. Continual full accreditation of B.Y.U. by the Northwest Association of Secondary and Higher Schools,
8. Adoption of the Semester System as part of the academic calendar.

Recently Crockett was re-elected Chairman of the Higher Commission of the Northwest Association of Secondary and Higher Schools the organization responsible for accreditation of all colleges and universities in seven northwestern states including Utah.

Before coming to Brigham Young University, Crockett was affiliated with the University of Colorado.  He was born in Preston, Idaho, received a B. S. degree in Economics at the University of Utah and a Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley. He is married to Della Cornish. They have four children and twelve grandchildren. Mrs. Crockett has served the last five years as Relief Society President of the B.Y.U First Stake.

During the year 1964, Dr. Crockett was Acting President of Brigham Young University.  It is anticipated that his successor as academic vice president will be announced in the near future.
